PROLOGUE

The accompanying documents were developed by me for the construction of the concrete structure depicted in the drawn documents. I served as contractor for the construction of the structure and its "skin". The residence was built in a hot arid region with the finish floor above initial grade. Little concern about ground water penetration existed and only a level one moisture barrier was used. In more common circumstances, I would also adhere externally to a protected, tough, and flexible water proofing membrane (the choices vary) and a base drain, which is a continuous ground water drain installed around the foundation slab: details for the drain are included.

DESCRIPTION

The structure depicted in these documents is the concrete "shell" for a dwelling on level ground with earth bermed up three exterior walls. The walls have windows over them in the finished dwelling.

The structure consists of a thick steel-reinforced concrete flat slab foundation keyed to thick cantilevered retaining walls which are five feet tall.
